RDS Privacy Policy

• Rich’s Driving School (RDS) is a driving school based in New Malden and is registered with the DVSA
• (Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency).
• Sometimes the driving school car may have an outward facing camera which records the outside environment only for insurance purposes, there is no focus of attention & isn’t capturing anything specific or sound.
• It is not used for training purposes or to review driving situations with pupils.
• The camera is on a loop and overwrites recorded footage automatically when SD card gets full as required.

How is personal information collected?

• Any personal information is collected with the consent of the user by interactive submission on the official RDS website (www.richs-driving-school.co.uk), e-mail or telephone enquiries.

What personal information do we hold?

• *  Names.
• *Date of birth (for age verification purpose only).
• *Full home addresses.
• *Contact telephone numbers/ email addresses of pupils or parents.
• *Driving licence number & expiry date.
• *Photographs of pupils after passing practical test ( only with pupils/parents consent ).
• *A diary of pupil’s first names listing lessons & test dates/times.

How do we use this information?

• * We only gather & use the minimum information needed to provide the services offered by RDS.
• *Telephoning or texting the pupil/parent relating to lessons with RDS or to obtain information and clarification.
• *Replying to an email enquiry sent to us.
• *Photos are used as promotional material on our website & Facebook page only.
• (Only with consent from person).
• *Some information requested is used to check lawful obligations to enable driving lessons to proceed.

• Information gathered with the explicit consent of the user will only be used for the purpose for which it was intended.

• Photos displayed on our website & Facebook page are with the users consent and can be removed anytime upon request.

We do not pass, or sell your information on to anyone.

* IMPORTANT UPDATE 1st JULY 2020 : CORONAVIRUS NHS TEST & TRACE

• New Government procedures are in place should someone fall ill from coronavirus or have been in contact with someone with symptoms .
•  
• You should self-isolate & call the NHS 111 service following their advice:

• This procedure now includes a ‘Track & Trace’ system which aims to contact people you may have been in close contact with to warn them to get tested.

• If your instructor has a trace call from NHS111, has any symptoms of covid, or has been informed they have been in contact with someone with it,
• a new condition to continue lessons with RDS will be that you are happy for your contact details to be passed onto NHS111 for tracing purposes only.

• They have their own security measures in place to ensure your details stay private.

How long is your personal information retained by us?

• We’ll hold your personal information based on the following criteria:
• *Until advised by the person that they no longer wish for us to hold it.
• *For as long as they are using the services of RDS.
• *Photos used for promotional material on website & Facebook until they no longer wish to remain on them.
• *Retention periods in line with legal & regulatory requirements or guidance.

Where do we hold your information?

• *All personal information provided on and processed by computers is situated in the European Union.
• *We hold personal information provided via computer/telephone in paper format for daily use.
• *Email correspondence sent to us will be stored digitally until deleted.

• *Contact names,phone numbers & addresses, are also stored on the instructors mobile phone.

Security

• We will take reasonable precautions to ensure that the personal information provided to us will be kept securely and when needed deleted safely.

Right of access

• *We may not be able to provide our services with out certain information from yourself.
• *You are entitled to request a copy of the data we hold on you.
• *We may request you to provide extra information that will confirm your identity. We will give you a copy of the information we hold, how we use it, in an understandable format.
• *We will respond to your request within one month after receiving confirmation proof of your identity.
